Step 1: Engineer Login and Job Access #
-
- The service engineer logs in to Salesforce.
- Opens their Assigned Jobs list.
- On the Job Record page, the Clock In button appears at the top-right corner.
- This button is visible only to the engineer assigned to the job.
Step 2: Starting the Clock-In #
When the engineer clicks Clock In, a Time Logging window appears.
Time Purpose Options
- Job – used when starting work at the customer site
- Travel – used when traveling to or from the customer location
- Leisure – used for breaks or non-working intervals
Examples
- Traveling to the customer → select Travel → click Start Timer
- Starting work at the site → select Job → click Start Timer
Optional Notes:
- Engineers can enter notes for more accurate documentation.
The Start Timer activates only after a Time Purpose is selected.
Step 3: Stopping the Timer #
- When the activity (Travel / Job / Leisure) ends, the engineer clicks Stop Timer.
- The time session is saved automatically.
- A new Clock In can be started immediately by selecting another purpose.
Example: Travel ends → Stop Timer → Start Job work → Clock In → Select Job → Start Timer.
Step 4: Time Card Recording #
Every Clock In and Clock Out creates a Time Card record capturing:
- Total Job time
- Total Travel time
- Total Leisure / break time
- Notes (if provided)
This ensures complete and accurate time documentation for each job.
