1. About This Guide #
After the FieldAx package is installed in your Salesforce organisation, your field service engineers need the correct access before they can use it. This guide lists every setting to apply to the FieldAx Engineer profile, in the order you should do it, so engineers can start working without “Insufficient privileges” errors.
How to use this guide
- Work through sections 3 to 11 in order. Each section tells you where to find the setting in Salesforce Setup and what to select.
- Tables show exactly what to enable. If an item is not listed, leave it as it is.
- Use section 12 to confirm everything works, and section 13 if something goes wrong.

2. Before You Begin #
- The FieldAx package is installed in your organisation.
- You are signed in as a System Administrator.
- FieldAx package licenses are available for your engineers (Setup → Installed Packages → Manage Licenses).
- You have the list of engineers who will use the profile.
| Tip: Use the Find Settings box at the top of the profile page to jump straight to a section such as Apex Class Access or Visualforce Page Access. It is much faster than scrolling. |
3. Create the FieldAx Engineer Profile #

Where to find it: Setup → Profiles
- Click Clone next to an existing Salesforce Platform profile (for example, Standard Platform User).
- Enter the profile name FieldAx Engineer and click Save.
- On the profile overview page, confirm that User License shows Salesforce Platform and that Custom Profile is ticked.
- Continue with sections 4 to 11 on this same profile.
- When finished, assign the profile to your engineers at Setup → Users → Users → Edit → Profile.
- Assign the FieldAx package license at Setup → Installed Packages → Manage Licenses → Add Users.
4. Assigned Apps #
Where to find it: Setup → Profiles → FieldAx Engineer → Assigned Apps → Edit

Tick Visible for both apps and select FieldAx (Lightning) as the Default so engineers land in it after login. Click Save.
Where to find it: Setup → Profiles → FieldAx Engineer → Assigned Connected Apps → Edit
Enable FieldAx Mobile so engineers can sign in from the mobile app.
5. Apex Class Access #
Where to find it: Setup → Profiles → FieldAx Engineer → Enabled Apex Class Access → Edit
Move every class below from Available Apex Classes to Enabled Apex Classes, then click Save. Tip: type fax in the search box to show only FieldAx classes, then use Add All if every listed class is on this page.

9. Tab Settings #
Where to find it: Setup → Profiles → FieldAx Engineer → Object Settings or Custom Tab Settings → Edit
Default On shows the tab in the app navigation. Default Off keeps the tab available but hidden until the engineer adds it. Any tab not listed here can stay Tab Hidden.

11. Field-Level Security #
Where to find it: Setup → Profiles → FieldAx Engineer → Object Settings → select the object → Edit → Field Permissions
Object permissions let an engineer open an object, but each field also needs its own access. Without it, the engineer sees blank fields or errors. Set the access shown in the tables on the following pages.
How to set field access
- Open the object from the profile (Object Settings) and click Edit.
- Scroll to Field Permissions.
- For each field listed in this guide, tick Read Access for Read only, or tick both Read Access and Edit Access for Read & Edit.
- Leave fields that are not listed unticked.
- Click Save and repeat for the next object.
| Good to know: Ticking Edit Access automatically ticks Read Access. Formula and system fields are always read-only and cannot be edited. If your organisation adds its own custom fields to FieldAx objects, grant those separately. |
